COMMEMORATING 100 YEARS WITH WAR MEMORIAL
The City of Stonnington recently engaged PTA Landscapes to refurbish a RSL war memorial in Victoria Gardens, High Street Malvern. Highly significant to the local community, the Prahran RSL and the Friends of Victoria Gardens, this project coincided with the upcoming 100 year commemoration of the ANZAC Day landing at Gallipoli during World War One. Designed by Simon McKenzie, Landscape Architect and Urban Designer, the memorial project was proudly constructed by PTA Landscapes. The works undertaken by PTA Landscapes included the careful removal of the existing memorial, keeping the original cenotaph.
” PTA Landscapes’ passion to provide high quality finishes was evident from the commencement of this project. Extensive research was undertaken into materials options and practices to create the best possible visual impact for the project. PTA Landscapes were great to work with throughout the construction of the project and were very accommodating to changes in scope, delivering the project on time and within budget. Their passion for creating high quality landscaped environments was evident in this project and I would have no hesitation recommending PTA Landscapes for other local government projects.” Simon McKenzie-McHarg, Landscape Architect and Urban Designer, City of Stonnington
A public service was held on Saturday 18th April 2015 where Stonnington Mayor, Melina Sehr, and Prahran RSL President, Rod Coote, officially opened the memorial as part of the ANZAC Centenary commemorations being held nationally.
It was a great honour for the team at PTA Landscapes to be involved in a project like this and members of the team who worked on the project felt a sense of pride being able to contribute to something so meaningful.
